Working longer: what will be the effect on teachers?

24 September 2015

Dilwyn Roberts-Young (Deputy General Secretary and Field Officer for Mid and the South West Wales) and Mererid Lewis Davies (Field Officer for South East Wales) have been attending regular meetings in London as part of the ongoing Working Longer review.

The review is considering:
• the evidence about the impact of working longer, and how any issues/barriers identified could be addressed.
• the employment practices which could support teachers working longer.

UCAC has collaborated with ASCL, ATL, NAHT, NUT and VOICE to prepare evidence for the review anmd we are very grateful to so many of you for responding to the questionnaire sent to you before the summer holidays. The evidence is being considered by those unions and by the Westminster government but there is also an opportunity for you to respond directly to the consultation which is open until the ninth of October.

Remember to contact us if you need to discuss the issues further and thank you in advance for your support in ensuring the best conditions for our colleagues in the profession.
